Smart After-Care Service in Patients with Prostate Cancer

[Research Purpose]

This study, as part of test-bed implementation and demonstration project of “Smart After Care service” targetting seriously ill patients, is the clinical trial performing a research of Smart After-Care service in Patients with Prostate Cancer among all seriously ill patients. The evaluation of compliance and satisfaction on Smart After-Care service, the analysis of pattern and quality of life after Smart After-care service, and the evaluation of satisfication aend effectiveness on rehabilitation programs based on “Smart After Care service”.

[Necessity of After-Care service in Patients with Prostate Cancer]

As the importance of management of exercise, obesity and nutrition in malignant illnesses including prostate cancer is being reported, in case of taking a recent lifestyle intervention such as diet control and aggressive exercise, Lifestyle intervention becomes important to patients with cancer gradually, as the result is announced which it has a good impact on convalescence after various malignant illnesses.

Prostate cancer, as a typical disease of long length of survival, not only the effect of treatment against it, but the demand for convenient follow-up study and improvement of quality of life are increasing steadily for now. As Urinary incontinence, voiding dysfunction and erectile dysfunction, etc accompanying the treatment against prostate cancer are also typical difficulties, continuous management through systematic rehabilitative exercise and medication counseling, etc are very significant. Accordingly, prostate cancer is the representative disease to which we can apply After-care service necessary to improve the life quality and satisfactory treatment of patients with prostate cancer.

[How to treat volunteers participating in the study]

The volunteers who take part in this clinical study are will be given normal treatments and follow-up monitoring services, in addition to this, whenever they visit, they will be endowed with consultation and education for rehabilitation, nutrition, stress management, etc which are parts of Smart After Care Service, and will receive continuous management and feedback for After Care Service through Apps running on smart devices and smart phones.

[Nutrition Evaluation]

Evaluation through App & Web (weekly) : dietary intake survey(at least 2 days within week, one day within weekend), dietary intake evaluation

Analysis of the number of intake unit against the number of prescription unit on foods, Presentation of the Intake ratio of nutrient substance against dietary allowance for nutrients.

Evaluation of practices of dietary rules (The kinds of foods & food intake, cooking methods)

Evaluation when patients visiting(0, 6th , 12th week) PG-SGA (Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment), BIA (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis), Blood value (total proteins, albumin, triglycerides, total cholesterols, HDL-C, LDL-C, hemoglobulin, hematocrit, total lymphocyte count), Blood pressure level, evaluation of the dietary life style self diagnostic tables, evaluation of program satisfaction and efficacy(6th, 12th week)
